    Thanks junior.

I knew I said a few months ago that I wouldn't mind taking a paycut and wait 5 yrs . But once I actually got to top pay, It is a different story and I might have to swallow my word. Lol.
My family life isn't bad, wife hit top pay next Jan.

I'm just trying to do some budgeting and planning right now. Because I was able to manage with only 70k salary before, even though now my salary went up alot , my bills hasn't yet. I just bought a new car and now I'm looking to sell my condo and get a house, and I've heard buying a house is alot of work and closing is alot..

I was thinking about jumping on tbta and trying it out for maybe up 2 yrs and if the money isn't right or something I don't like, then I can alway come back to my dept.

I'm just trying to gather some advice from other ppls that might taking a big paycut. Wife is supportive in my career choices so that is a plus. I guess ima also talk to a financial advisor. But trying to get free advice first.. Hehe. Or I can put off buying a house and wait a few more years..

I'm not a big spender I don't know your life style or family life I'm married with three kids and have a house I have a savings I know what top pay is and around what I'll get paid going into this if I get on the job. I'm taking into consideration all the tolls I'll be paying going into the academy (don't know when you get company ezpass) food and bills are priority clothes for kids priority. I've made that money before with what I have now responsibility
    Is key.

Let's keep rumors or speculation out of this forum. Civil service goes by ss list grade number. On the exam it states what you get extra credit for. Don't give people heart attacks on info that isn't accurate

The veteran preference was filled out when u sign up for the exam or they can submit veteran status to claim it now.

This is hilarious, Can everybody stop worrying about how many wrong or what your score is and live your life.. It's beautiful weather outside. Enjoy the summer! If there was anything to worry about, it's getting in shape for the fitness.. STOP worrying about administrative stuff! Geez, ya going to catch a stroke! Lol

It's civil serivice mta workers don't get any special prefernces idk where he got that idea from. There was no where that stated you get extra points for being a mta worker, I don't even remember seeing a spot for veterans. If you got 1 wrong along with another 100 people they will break the tie mostly by ss#

They are trying to put a class in by the end of the year. They are doing all the in service training right now to have the academy open by year end.

I don't think Mta employee have any extra preference over anybody else. If that's the case then current police/peace officer should have priority since they are trained and went thru previous background. Bus driver or OVERPAID metrocard seller compare to nypd/doc officer? Humm... Lmao, (inside joke from previous post) . Maybe veteran are the only one that has preference because of the extra points added to the exam.

But it is true that, they are going to go thru the list quickly because many people will FAIL the fitness test. And others won't pass background or decide that the pay isn't enough, etc. So perfect score to 1 or 2 wrong should be fine to be called.

People are forgetting that this is civil service exam. So it normally take 2-3 yrs for a regular exam. This may be quicker but it will take some time. Best bet is to just forget about it until it happens and they start calling for processing. You going to drive yourself insane constantly thinking about it..

Don't count on getting in quick with all these people ahead of you if you don't have any ' seniority'. Best bet is to never put you eggs in one basket

And another thing you need to think about,, do you know whoany people got 1 wrong?? ALOT! That's when they go by seniority so to speak,, veterans get points , then current civil workers and then the rest get called

to fill a class of 50 they need to call 600 people,, tons of people get disqualified. Those 600 go through the process. A. Class for this fall is not realistic. If you are already working for mta then yeah , the fall sounds about right but only of yo are already an mta employee
