If a New York City police officer gets on the job for 3 years and decides to apply to another department for example in another state like Florida does his pension gets transferred or he needs to start all over?
    Exam # 2344

^^ depends on the department. Look at the departments recruiting website and it should have that question answered in the FAQ area.

No. Pensions don't transfer out of state. You will have to start over for length of service retirement.
Now go home and get your shine box!

I have heard of other jobs hiring a new officer at a higher salary due to experience, but I have never heard of an Out of State Department accepting any pension.
Every one that I know of or heard of has started at zero as far as the pension goes.
