That's not true. I was pysch DQ's from the NYPD and have since been hired by three other departments.

FYI, the "dr.(a.k.a. master's student on her internship)" that D.Q.'d me was removed because of the large number of applicants that she put on "review" or "dq'd". Yeah, she was a real winner.

    • Ok so after reading some of the posts I'm kind of bugging out my question is if I'm on psychological rewiew is it safe to say that I will be D.q? I had my psychological interview at the end of November and now im on review.I had to get my school records saying that I was in special ed for 2 years when I was in middle school and resource room in h.s. I also had to get records saying that I took ritalin when I was in middle school. Am I on review because of that and when should I hear something do I just wait now till they get back to me?

You were lucky. Even know other examiners are supposed to make independant assessments of candidates, some will reflexively DQ a candidate based off another agencies decision. Its much easier for them to affirm another agencies decision

it's my first post so i apologize if i do anything incorrectly.

i just recently took the nypd exam, and obviously i know it's an extremely long wait, but i had a question on the BI part investigating previous medications.

i recently had severe acid reflux that caused acid to go into my throat making it feel like i constantly had something stuck there so my gastro doctor prescribed one round of alprazolam (generic for xanax) to relax the nerve endings in my throat for the hypersensitivity to the acid. i've never had issues with stress or anxiety, and that's not why it was prescribed (never seen any mental health specialist or psychologist/psychiatrist) but someone on the job told me that this would be automatic disqualifier, despite the fact it was prescribed for a physical reaction, only one time.

anyone have any thoughts on this? much appreciated
IT wont be an automatic disqualifier. you legally used the drugs and it wasn't for a psychiatric issue. Disclose it, get detailed doctors note.

Yes. Do not withdraw, see it through and appeal if necessary. Regaurdless, your file is there- if your going to be DQ it says so in the file. Any agency that you apply too will request these records and see that. If it is let stand, it can be a "scarlet letter"...... Go to www (d0t) lawenforcementpeptalk (dot) com for information on how ot appeal.. these guys are GREAT!!

Was up VISTA I see you still around helping fellow guy's , nice brother , am still fighting the appeals but one thing I notes was that this does not travel with you on less you disclose it , you can sued NYPD for disclosing personal medical psych records, I have not had problems with other LE agency's that am almost done processing with and it more then one..

they expect the same things in both processes. administrative paper work complete clear and in order. and a paper trail that shows a competent candidate. If something comes up and you lie youll be DQed as quick as NYPD and if something shows disrespect for the law or too many summons' etc. arrests or character flaws...you will be put on review or CNS or even worse DQed...

many people think they are going into an easier process in corrections but they are quite surprised to find out thats really not the case.

its fine man I have no problem telling the forum. I passed all aspects and was put on review (something I didnt even know until about a week ago) for my driving history (thought I was just on a hold). In the process of trying to change that now considering my driving history has been clear for 5 years and I have defensive driving courses completed.

If I were to get the go ahead to reprocess I would have to do everything over even though I passed everything back in 2010.

at this time I have other things going on ...so although I am still going to try and get back in the process If I get Hired somewhere else that might be where I stay...for example NYSDOC
Are you sure it's for your driving record? I have 3 tickets and license suspended twice and my BI told me I am good to go.

If it the only thing drink related I don't think it a problem , but let them know it was stupid and you was immature at the time and learn your lesson.

                            • I have been on psych review since October. Called my BI a number of times and he seems to make it out that waiting this long is normal. I am beginning to get worried. Any suggestions????
