Hopefully NYs new move over law will reduce the number of tragedies like this in the future. I understand that it's a new law, but I have only seen two notifications about it so far, both in January when it went into effect. Once was on the Thruway on one of it's overhead electronic signs that broadcast traffic advisories and amber alerts and the other was an article in the local paper. Maybe the state should be more aggressively trying to notify the public about it? I know quite a few people that had no idea about the law until I told them, and this was a couple of weeks ago. One of them didn't even believe me and thought I was mistaken about it.

I just read about this. I hope the driver is caught and justice is brought upon them.

                      Prayers to family and friends.

I always did this and had no idea it was a law but I hope it makes it that much worse for the driver who did this!

Actually, it may not have been the driver's fault-- this happened on an entrance ramp, and there is some thought that being blinded by the morning sun may have had something to do with it. There is an ongoing investigation, and last I heard the driver has not been charged. He is said to have stopped to render aid, to be cooperating fully, and to be distraught by what happened.

Ah, thanks Keppy. I don't get much reading time during the day so I didn't get all that.

What an terrible situation all around.

News coverage of his funeral... it was a moving service.

Incidentally, here is an article, with pictures, about the role perhaps played by the location and the morning sun... http://www.wivb.com/dpp/news/erie/Is...ooper-death%3F
