Sets of 10 but you know how they do, you do 5 and then they yell at everyone to get up and then drop back down and start over, and then hold planks before you do the next set

I'll adjust my training nypd academy was similar we also was getting into trouble having to be in front leaning rest.

A good tip for people is to practice holding a pushup plank, because you'll be doing a lot of those

There should be less talk about what happens in the academy, this forum is here to keep people updated and to help with questions during processing, or to get an idea when they could begin processing. The academy is designed to train new officers, the way it operates shouldn’t be posted on a public forum.

Any word on how many will be in the next academy class? Lot of officers/sergeants will be retiring next year, at least in the 10th JD.

And as far as the Academy goes, I would keep what goes on there off the forum and social media..

If you struggled with the PAT let that be a sign that you need to prepare yourself.

Are you able to reschedule missed events? Like the background and written psych?

If you were scheduled for those and missed both and never let them know before the date, you will probably need a good reason for not responding with a request to change the date

Is there parking near the Brooklyn academy?

You'll have to get there early if you want a spot. You can find parking, but most days you'll find yourself driving around looking for a while

There is a parking garage a few blocks away but you have to pay for it.

Yeah the parking thing stresses me out. Any tips parking around the Brooklyn location?

Idk where you're coming from but I recommend mass transit. Getting in your car after a long day feels good but running around looking for parking with the alternate side stuff and Brooklyn in general is annoying. I'm sure classmates of yours will be riding the train so I guess it could also be a good bonding experience as well. You could elect to drive but that ride back home in rush hour isn't much fun either.

You’ll take the Atlantic connection to Brooklyn (Atlantic Terminal). You can take the 2/3 subway from Atlantic Terminal or you can walk from Nostrand Ave, it’s about a mile walk.

I’ve always found a parking spot exactly on the block of the Brooklyn academy each time I went but that’s only because I get there around 6:30 and just wait in my car until 8.

Anyone have any pointers for beep test. Really struggling with it and test is in two weeks.
Been getting 20 push-ups easy. 25-30 sit ups easy. Beep test really making me nervous

Just jog in the beginning and then pick up the pace. Don't go full speed right from the start. I suggest practicing with cones, as well as the beep test sounds available on youtube. Just measure the distance and put the cones.

There are beep test audios on YouTube that you can play out loud to practice with. You can also run on the treadmill starting at speed 5 and increasing .5 speed every 2 minutes

Do you have to cross the lines on the beep or can you just touch the line and continue?
