I’m a NYPD cop going on a year of service. I’m not going to bash the job and say that it sucks, because everyone has a different opinion. Personally, I am looking to make the switch to court officer. If you are a family man looking for a steady, normal work schedule then courts is the job to take. For an exciting and unpredictable career, then NYPD is the job for you. I want to have a career with weekends and holidays off so I can spend time with my family. The pay is almost the same so I wouldn’t be taking much of a loss with salary. HOWEVER NYPD IS 22 YEARS AND THEN RETIRE. COURTS WILL HAVE YOU WORKING UNTIL YOUR 60s lolLast edited by Joefromgc; 03-15-2022, 12:19 PM.

I joined for the experience but I knew I wasn't going to stay I live in orange county I know I'm going to work in the city eventually I want to be close to home.Comment

What ever decision you make just do it for long term if your young early twenty you have options if not your limited like me only can do rollover or this court officer no age restriction.Comment

Got the call couple of days ago. Still haven't received the email but was told it will show eventually. FOR ANYONE THAT BOUGHT EQUIPMENT IN ADVANCE GO BACK AND CHECK THE LIST. THEY CHANGED THE BRAND OF CLOTHING FROM RUSSELL TO HANES!!!! Had to return most of the clothing to Amazon with a 20% fee because I'm well past the return date.Comment

Virgil_Tibbs yeah lost out on like $25 bucks or so but I just used the like $76 I got back to reorder the Hanes stuff. Got stuck with two Russell t shirts they wouldn't take back so hopefully I don't accidentally wear those lol

To all that are about to join the academy I hope you’ve been practicing your 1.5 mile run atleast twice a week. You want to try to get it to 12mins 30 secs or better if you’re 35 or younger. Don’t stop on the runs at all. The 1st PT is the hardest for a lot of people, don’t quit just push through show you have fight.Comment
