Anyone feeling that this new COVID surge is going to cancel the next class in early 2022? If it does, I'm done with this. I didn't take the new written exam and I'm just too darn old to wait another year. Honestly, I don't feel like doing the psych all over again.

I’m doing this for the 2nd time around also. My psych results from 2019 were processed within 2 weeks. Now I’m waiting over a month to get my psych results this time around. Ugh. The waiting game is getting old

Certainly hope this doesn’t get interrupted again. But as of now there are CASES but thankfully not any DEATHS I’m aware of.


I took my psych the first week of December, haven’t heard anything. Seemed like it went well. Can’t fathom any of my answers were red flags(I’ve passed 2 psychs in the past). Hoping they didn’t forget me lol.

I took my psych first week of December as well. Results came back and I'm good to go ( for the 2nd time). Only thing left for me is medical exam and the email for the academy. No email confirmation yet to do the medical yet. Hope we get it soon.

Apply and forget. By the time you're ready to move on they'll call you, usually that's how it works haha.

Yeah, like he said. It's a long process. I took the test 7 years ago, finally at the very last stage. Id forget it....then periodically every other year get an email asking me if Im still interested

City corrections. Trying to get out. Its a terrible toxic place to work. Everyone talks about oh you make so much money and youll be taking a pay cut honestly I hit top pay in July so I get a 20k pay bump but I don't care. This year I made over 75 but its not worth it, not good for your mental health, and no leadership or consequences for inmates. So hopefully the courts is better.

Academy downstate is sounding like a late February to early March start. Hope these new variants don't stop the show. I've been bulking up, will be time to start working on my endurance soon! lol

At med they told me expect a call last week of january/first week of february. I guess that means late February?

I was told to expect a call "soon" but they were targeting late February or early March start...lol guess we'll know soon. Basically if your stuff comes clean you're basically in.

No, no email. He said theyd just call if all blood work came back ok.

I finally got the email stating that I passed my psych. I’m awaiting a date for my full medical. Hopefully Covid doesn’t push this class back any further.

You need to be cleared by the review board before you go on to take your medical.

How does the NY state courts determine whether you go to an upstate or downstate academy?

You pick the area you would want to work in the beginning of the process. Depending on what district you choose, is where you work

I called the regular court office processing number today and the woman I spoke to said the academy is likely this summer… so we went from January… to February/March to now this coming summer…

all I have remaining is the pre-appointment medical at this point does anyone actually have an accurate date as to when this next class will be put in? Thanks all for the help.

Wow that would be disappointing. Some of us just had the medical weeks ago...I guess they're trying to have as large a class as possible or need more time. Who knows. Unless different people are hearing different things.

I called just now to inquire about my medical exam results. Court officer processing said that we will not get our results, and that the academy class is still still slated for late February to early March. I sure hope the ball gets rolling soon. I’m not trying to retake this whole process again

Is courts 30 and out for tier 6? Or is it 30 years and wait till age 63 to collect full pension?

Once the score list is established, they notify when/if your name comes up.
Im 7 years into the process now, just finished medical and waiting...took it in 2014. Id say pretend in your mind you didn't take it and just wait.

Agreed with AMP519 but it also depends on how good you do on the exam. The better your score the quicker the turn around will be.
