You can bring a watch. It’s required actually while you’re in business attire and then uniform. You just can’t wear it during physical/defensive training which includes running.

Good afternoon, I have a question for those who live and work upstate. I currently live in the city. Pending I pass the academy I would be moving upstate. I was told to look into the districts to live pending I pass. Does anyone have any recommendations? I found district 8 is the worst for crime and education. The other districts seem alright any input would be appreciated.

I also would like to know if I can wear a watch during my runs to track my time. Thank you to those who respond back to me in advance.

How does academy assignment work.

Generally if you are assigned upstate you attend the upstate academy. Assignments for NYC and LI attend the downstate Brooklyn academy.

Today received an email saying that it will take 6 months so at least they gave us an estimate.

I had a feeling it would take about that much time. They will be giving test from September all the way until mid December. Plus you have to factor in the holiday season and just the overall ny bureaucracy as well. By next summer they will begin starting the process. That will be perfect for me since I'll be graduating with my bachelor's after the spring semester of 2022.

I took the exam today and I know know a few others who took the exam as well. I'd say it wasn't too difficult just got to take your time in the last section of the exam. It can be a little tricky but patience is key In that part.

I agree, it was pretty straight forward and pretty easy to understand the last part was kinda tricky yea but once you get handle it was a walk in the park.

I think them providing that paper copy of the charts initially throws you off but after a few mins it made sense when you read the questions. Let's see what the results will look like in a few months.

So they provide the chart at the beginning of the exam for the the questions you need to complete at the end?

No not at the beginning of the exam. Its closer to the end. There will be a section that prompts you to raise your hand and the proctor will provide you with the chart.
