i really do hope that they extend the list, this isnt any of our faults. some of us were right at the finish line of our process to get in to the academy and now it seems like we may have to start from the beginning starting next year, which honestly for me i would probably start looking for something else. still holding out hope but yea. probably going to have to redo the physical as well since those only last a year.

Worst case scenario, there would only be temporary layoffs before the courts fully open.Last edited by LukeSW; 09-14-2020, 02:25 PM.

Hey Freshman, Im on the job. If you haven't heard already, courts need to cut 300 million dollars to meet a deficit. All we have are rumors at this time, but there are rumors of layoffs through-out all of OCA including the class that just graduated at the very least. But layoffs are the very last step in the process.
It was stated however that part of getting out of that 300 million dollar deficit was placing a hiring freeze. Don't know how long, or when it'll take place. I'll try my best to post something when there are more concrete answers.

I appreciate that Freshman, We are all in this together! Again, ill keep you guys informed as I hear more.

UchihaMadara,
I'll tell you what ive heard. Still only rumors at this point in the game. There is talk about 800-1200 layoffs throughout the court system statewide. This is not a good look for the class that just graduated. I personally don't think they'll touch many of the officers, but i do think some will be laid off if the 800-1200 number is true. At this point i've yet to hear anyone from that class receiving a lay off letter. I wil try to keep you posted as i hear more.

I heard pretty much what Rat said. IMO keep your eyes open for other exams. I don't know if there is much available now but take anything that your qualified for. Don't pass up opportunities waiting for the next CO test. If you can get into a state agency you'll start building time. I don't see the courts hiring for at least 3-5 years.

Any updates? Really hoping to take the exam this year but probably wishful thinking at this point.

Yeah...I'm sure the 2014 list is dead. One would think they could pull people who passed everything from then but it would make them more money to just offer a new exam so...oh well lol. Wouldn't have a problem retesting but ughh that wait again...
-
I hear you on that. But how are they even going to make money if they can't even give out the test. The only way I can see them pulling people from the 2014 list is if they need people quick.Last edited by Ix360xI; 01-14-2021, 04:13 PM.

Question for those currently working in the courts. With in person slowed or stopped, what are Officers doing? Is everyone still in the court buildings? Are there layoffs? I ask because I am a county Deputy working in State Court House. We have sent Deputies back to road patrol. Just wondering what State Court Officers are doing.
