Phsycological Test (?)

I just had a question. If you fail a Phycological test does that pretty much give you no chances ever in your life to join any other Police Department?

I do not believe so. There was a case where someone failed the NY phsyc and went to las vegas metro pd and after review was hired. I don't think that it goes over. The only test I believe means something to all LE agencies is a polygraph. Good luck!

A lot of the times Departments (Suffolk County for instance) doesn't disclose the outcomes of their testings to other Departments.

It's not really gonna affect you if you fail psychological exam. Every department uses different doctors(NJ atleast ),so everyone has a different opinion.

When the time does come. all you have to do is disclose that you failed one and that's pretty much it.

A lot of people fail the Psych exam.

Lieing on a background is a different story.

Thanks guys. Well, i have'nt got the results yet but I just wanted to know the answer. I took the Mount Vernon Psycolological yesterday and the Doctor was pretty tough.

Don't sweat it man, I failed the Suffolk County Psych and was told not to worry-expect maybe a review at the worst, but as long as you keep your stuff together you shouldn't have an issue. I'm gettign ready to start the city's process. Good Luck with Mount Vernon!

Depends if you answered the "I like playing with fire" questions a little too enthusiastically.

And to answer the original question, no, you should be fine. Even if you wind up not passing the psych this time, you can take it again for the same department.

You should not have a problem getting picked up by another dept or that same dept...It happens here in NJ all the time...
I'm not sure how it is in NY, but here in Jersey if you fail the Psych you can appeal it and see a Psychologist on your own dime to clear you..This actually just happen to my friend last year...He failed the Psych and appealed it and saw a Psychologist who cleared him...He just received a letter along and so did the PD he applied for stating that the PD has 30 days to hire him or the NJDOP (civil service) will fine the dept for every day after...

I failed one and then passed nypd.... I guess it will always be some what of a issue when you have a psych, but i dont think it will stop you from passing as long as you should pass.

definitly not. I know of a guy who failed the psych with a department and took the pysch with the same department a year later and got hired so don't worry about it. This was for a department in New York

yea i know someone who failed the city psych and got hired by the state...im a little worried about my results also but only time will tell.
