Since we are on the subject of benefits, do officers receive health benefits after once they retire? If yes, is the coverage just for them or also their family? Is there a cost? Also, what is the the percentage of salary does a member receive once they retire after 20?

we retire with 50 percent of our salary after 20 years.

Yes you do receive health benefits. You and your family also receive dental eyeglasses, and prescriptions depending on which union you are in. Police Officers have the best union when it comes to benefits. I think the Detectives union (DEA) is the worst.

You don't go to the academy on holidays or weekends, thats why some guys miss it lol. During the gigantic academy classes in the past they had different squads, some recruits did day tours, some did 4xMidnights.

We have worked every holiday so far this Academy. And a few weekends we do work in addition to during the week.

I absolutely agree with you but I happen to like my side of the Hudson (Bergen County ). I was just asking to compare NYPD's pension system to the PFRS.

That link... it clearly reiterates what EnWhyPeeDee had said. The Base salary is around $76,000. Total Compensation is listed as around $90,000.
