NYS Trooper Shooting in LI?

Just heard this on the news. Anyone have any more information about the shooting by/of a NYS trooper on the Robert Moses Causeway? Happened today.

The only news I could find from this morning says that the Trooper is listed by the hospital as being in "stable condition". Good news... and god bless him and his family.

All I heard was he was in stable condition after receiving a serious head injury. Thanks News 12.

NYS Trooper Shooting Long Island

The NYS trooper chased the suspect, the chase ended on the Robert Moses Causeway, a confrontation escalated, the suspect grabbed the officer's baton and started pounding him in the head with it, the trooper shot and killed him. Suspect was dead before back-up officers arrived at the scene. The suspect was a 42 year-old Deer Park Man. He was driving over 100 mph, weaving in and out of traffic. That was the reason why the officer was trying to stop him.
