...i guess bloomberg realizes that once the state troopers starts hiring, we gonna lose alotta people.. our top pay is like 1k less than theirs..

But NYSP's starting pay is $15k more than NYPD. Doesn't matter where you top out if you can't afford to stay on the job while you work towards top pay.

great news, especially since i plan on going into the january class. and as others said, hopefully this will change the hiring process and make it a bit more difficult to get on the job. people will start taking it more serious.

That won't happen because of retention issues. The reasoning behind this raise is simple, we are down a 1000 cops, and undermanned by 3000 yearly.

Top pay is NOT 91K, it's 76K don't let the wording fool you!

He is right it is 76 k , dont get confused and get dissappointed ....Not bad raise though... Congrats you deserve it !

76k at top pay. Thats the top base, once you hit that step you do not see anymore raises until a new contract is made

The 91k is the 76k base with holiday pay, uniform allowance, night diff, long gev added in.

officers will see 91k after all is added in, but the 91k isnt yearly salary. Basically your checks will be based on 76k but at the end of the year they cut you checks for holiday pay, uniform allowance etc.

so if you compare that to lets say nassau pd, nassau tops out around 117K. Is the 117k number for nassau with everything included (night diff, uniform, etc.) Or would nassau be around 130k plus with all the "extras" included??

No nassau is 117k with nothing included


A top pay Nassau PO on nights will make 140k with no OT.

So let me re ask this. It says retroactive from aug of 06. Even though it doesn take effect until Aug of 09, if I were to Join the academy in Jan of 09, wouldnt I receive a retro check after aug???

Yes, that's exactly what would happen. But keep in mind, this agreement is until 2010.

it means that top pay will not be 76k until august 1, 2009 and the contract is good until august 1, 2010.

If you enter the Jan 2009 PA you will be paid $36,000 until August 1, 2009 (7 months) On 8/1/09 your pay will rise from 36k to 41k and you will be paid retro from 1/??/09 to 7/31/09.

For those in the PA right now they will be paid retro from July 9, 2008 to July 31, 2009.
