  • Seagate Police Department (Brooklyn)

Hey everyone. I recently learned of this agency. Does anyone have any info on them about pay, etc, testing ? There website seems kind of outdated. Do they carry off duty, make arrests ? Up until today I have never heard of them. Any information or insight into this agency is greatly appreciated.

They patrol a gated community on coney island in brooklyn, its all residential, and its mainly a jewish community. They have peace officer status while on duty, and while on seagate property. They carry .38 revolvers while on duty only and must lock them up when they are done.

Last time I heard anything on the pay was about 2 years ago, and it was $8hr to start.

Spec, you gotta be kidding me...

Did you read what he wrote? $8.00 per hour. YES its TRUE. Spoke with the Chief of Seagate personally a few times. Of course they make arrests.

Try spring creek public safety, they make a ton more money and I think SCPO(on this forum), is still an active officer over there. Also keep your eye peeled in the CHIEF paper for COOP CITY Police(public safety), as they give an exam every year or so.
Captain Square Badge, reporting for duty!.

Co-op City Public Safety just gave their 2nd exam of the year a few weeks ago as one of my good friends took it. They want to give 3 exams this year, so if your interested in the position, keep checking their website (http://www.ccpd.us/id84.html) for when they list the date of the 3rd exam, or you can keep checking the Chief newspaper(http://www.thechief-leader.com/), or call Riverbay Corporation at (718) 320-3420 and ask them. I would highly recommend calling.

To give you some basic info on the job, you have Special Patrolmen status which gives you Peace Officer powers on duty. You carry a firearm on duty only and lock it up in a locker at the end of your tour. Starting salary is $35,000 yearly. If you pass the written exam, you will go through a 7 week training course. The department has numerous Specialized Units including ESU, Gang Unit, Community Policing, Community Affairs, Detective Squad, and Bicycle Patrol.

            There's alot more info here:

I think Seagate is up to 11 and change an hour. We have a few guys that work part time over there. Unfortunately we are in a hiring freeze now, come the end of this year we might not even have jobs.

They're transitioning to 9s. A few bosses already have them. Those who aren't issued a permit to carry yet are given a taser.

                    SCPS,

                    Nope, I am no alumni!

A former boss of mine tried getting a good friend of mine a job there as they were on the job together, once my friend found out it was a whopping 8 smackers an hour, he declined indefinantly.
