Anyone here familiar with Santa Fe PD that would be able to shed some light on the department? Morale..etc..

Santa Fe PD right now I believe is one of the best departments in the state of New Mexico. Some really good incentives, 45 mile take home cars, a sponsored academy and much more. The department also just got a new chief, which is a bit early to see in what way the department is heading. But I feel that there is a really good morale within the department.

I am starting the lateral program right now. I do my initial test on Saturday. I have never been as excited to get on with an agency as I am with Santa Fe. Everything about the PD and the city for that matter is AWESOME. I would say that the only downside is that Santa Fe is expensive to live in however, you can drive your take home car all the way down to the northern part of Albq. The pay from what I gather is one of the highest in the state. 19.11 HR for entry level, 20.25 in year 2 and 22.50 for years 3-7 and then a huge raise to 27.50 in year 7. Plus, in year 3 you can apply for Sgt, that takes you up to almost 30.00 per hour.

They have the 90% 25 year retirement, 3 weeks vacation, unlimited sick time accrual, excellent medical, dental and vision benefits, the Lt over recruiting is more then helpful and a very nice person as well as my background investigator. The department has so much OT available he said you have to actually turn it down sometimes. I also heard there is a 2K relocation bonus. One person said you had to relocate to the city limits to receive that bonus but another person said they don't think you have to be in the city limits. Can anyone clarify this for sure?

Of course the area is awesome. You have skiing right down the road, casinos, tons of shopping and restaurants. I can say that if I get this opportunity, I will spend the rest of my career with SFPD.

ARE THERE ANY SFPD OFFICERS ON THIS FORUM? If so, i'd love to hear from you and your thoughts on the dept. How is the new chief doing?

I've been working with SFPD as a college intern for while now. I'm also in the process of getting hired, I took the polygraph yesterday! For the most part everyone that I've talked to enjoys working there. I feel like the departmet is going in the right direction with the new Chief.

I tried to PM you but it doesn't give me the option to do so when I click on your name. Can you check and make sure your Private Messaging is turned on?

Just bumping this thread. Any updates on Santa Fe PD? Are they still looking to hire many recruits?
