Charlestown, N.H. -- The State Attorney General's Office said a 53-year-old man died and a New Hampshire state trooper was shot following a confrontation Saturday night in Charlestown.
Attorney General Kelly Ayotte said state and local police went to execute a search warrant at a house Saturday night. While at the scene, they found Anthony Jarvis and determined he was a felon who had a weapon.
Police said Jarvis wouldn't comply with orders to leave the home, so they went inside. They said shots were fired, injuring the trooper. Jarvis was found dead.
The trooper suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was expected to recover. Officials said they planned to perform an autopsy on Jarvis on Monday.
