  • Swim Test

Is anyone familiar with the swimming portion of the agility test for Portsmouth PD? What is required for it?

    Thanks!

      nothing mentioned

their website doesnt mention any details, only that there is a test. i would just call them up and ask to speak to the recruiting officer, i'm sure he/she would be more than willing to give you all the information you need.

If I remember correctly (when I tested for them 5-6 years ago) I think that they just want you to tread water for 5 minutes. Hope it helps!

            As suggested, I called them.

5 minute tread and 100m swim (not timed).

I took it a few years ago. It's no problem. As you said, you swim the pool a few times and then tread. The hardest part is that the pool isn't that deep so you can't tread in a vertical position, you kind of have to lay back a little. Still no big deal though. Might not be a problem for you, i'm about 6'2". Good luck, from what I know Portsmouth is a great PD. Probably one of the top two or three in NH.
