I start academy on September 10th. I was wondering if anyone else that posts on these forums is starting the same time. Look forward to the next grueling 25 weeks and meeting some fellow recruits.

Congrats to both of you!!!! I am a newbie and I just wanted to know if you guys would be able to help me out. What did you guys do to prepare yourself for the whole process? I'm not talking about the PT stuff, I'm good on that end. Any info you provide will be greatly appreciated.

You've come to the right place. Search for and read as many LVMPD-related posts as you can. Visit protectthecity.com and practice testing and interviewing.

          Good luck!

As far as for the first phase, alot of note cards and nightly practice for the oral boards with the questions they provide. Just remember officer safety!!! As for the second phase, you really can't prepare just go in and be honest. I would rather be too honest about past events then to have my integrity questioned for lying or omission.

Best of luck to you and your fellow classmates! It'll be 6 months of hell, but it's worth it in the end!

The first day of the Academy you will wear Business attire. Then after that, you get to wear the wonderful Zoo Keeper uniforms with velcro patches duty belt and boots.. oh and who can forget the cool hats that they give you. During PT and DT the uniform varies a little, but the entire class is uniform, and seperated from the other academy classes by a color. Then if you mess up like my class did, you will have to wear your business attire for a day again.

I would recomend at least a tie and Dress pants and Jacket. The guys in my class that didn't have a suit on got called out the first day and stood up and made a name for themselvs pretty quickly. But hey thats up to you. If you wear a shirt and tie, you wont get kicked out, but you will get noticed for the wrong reasons.
