  • Traveling with firearms

I posted this question in the California section as well as it is state specific and not really a generic ask a cop.

I will be travel to so cal this weekend, but want to take my glock 23. what are the NV rules for traveling with the firearm? I do not have a ccw, and from what I understand I can open carry the firearm on my person even in the car, but what if its in the back of the van? Does it need to be unloaded?

I want to be able to access the fire arm if I need to on the long 8 hour drive, but at the same time want to be legal.

I am really just taking it to ca so I can go shooting with my bro at one of the ranges. He hasnt fired it yet. But it has 13 round mags, and I think CA limits it to 10?

I was going to ask my sheriff buddy but forgot.

CA is a very sticky firearms state. I wouldn't even bring it with you if you had a CCW. Even if you did, Cali wouldn't honor it.

If you insist traveling with the gun, I suggest locked in a case, unloaded, furthest away from you in the vehicle. This is about the safest way you can go. Even with that, depending on the officer you may get r***ed.

    I recommend checking out Packing.org
The site tends to be up to date and pretty accurate.

    Goodluck.
