How many tested? Also why don't you try COLFAX CO SO. in SCHUYLER. They seem to put a lot of people through, they are not to far from Omaha, and you will learn alot. They get a lot of crap over, just about every time I'm at the jail they are there booking someone in.Last edited by nebraska_deputy; 06-02-2007, 01:49 AM.Some people were just dropped on their heads as children more than the rest of us!

20 tested altogether. Half of them looked like they didn't belong there (i.e. tattoos on forearms/hands, other things) I got called 2 days after the test to interview at the civil service commission, which I did on 06/02. I should know something by 07/02 as they plan on putting their next hire through the August academy.
I'll give Colfax County a look too....thanksLast edited by equinox137; 06-04-2007, 04:29 AM."First of all, then we have to say the American public overwhelmingly voted for socialism when they elected President Obama." - Al Sharpton, March 21, 2010

They told me at the City Commission interview that interviews with the mayor were to begin on the week of July 2. So far, I haven't got a call to set up an interview, but I haven't received a "get lost" letter either. I'm thinking about calling them to find out. Anyone think I'd be pushing too hard by doing so? I want the job, but I don't want to be annoying either."First of all, then we have to say the American public overwhelmingly voted for socialism when they elected President Obama." - Al Sharpton, March 21, 2010

I see this thread is quite old, but I recently applied for a position with the Nebraska City PD. Does anyone know how their hiring process works (ie. written test, physical agility, oral interview etc...)? I also wondered if anyone knew any positive/negative things about the department? Thanks in advance for any and all info in these areas.Last edited by Aaron24; 06-24-2009, 12:18 AM.

I don't know anything at all about their testing process, but I did go through the academy with a guy from NCPD. If you get the job look him up. Holman is his name. Good guy."To know that you know what you know and that you do not know what you do not know; that is true knowledge." - Unknown

Funny you should mention that. Angela is wanting to move out of the area and I may be looking elsewhere for a job. I told my department during the interview that I would stay with them no less than three years and I intend to make good on that promise, but it's something I'll consider for the future. If you guys are still hiring at that time then it's something I'll be looking at.I assume I can count on you for a reference??
Related, I would feel bad for moving on because my department has been nothing but nice to me and I would hate to move on from somewhere that has been so patient and has taught me so much about policing. Loving the agency is a law enforcement sin, but I'm finding it to be a difficult hurdle to jump over. Looks like I need to read "Emotional Survival for Law Enforcement" again. If you haven't read it then I highly recommend doing so. Pay attention, applicants - this book is a MUST for any new cop."To know that you know what you know and that you do not know what you do not know; that is true knowledge." - Unknown

Well I took the first step in Nebraska City's hiring process yesterday which involved the written examination. About 60 people took the test. I was informed that only the top 6 to 10 applicants would advance to oral interviews which are slated to take place next Saturday. After these interviews with the civil service commission, 2 to 3 individuals would be asked to return for an interview with the Chief.
I was told that I will get a call by either Wednesday or Thursday if I scored among the top 6 to possibly 10 applicants. Otherwise I would receive no further contact from the city.
