  • Looks like no more mapa testing

I called mapa and they said that you would have to go to each agency now? Anyone else hear this or know anymore information about this?

Interesting I wonder who got tired of getting robbed. The depts or the people who paid 45.00 to lose a day of their life.

Here's the MAPA link. Click on the COPS program icon. They aren't mincing any words here.

I too wonder what happened. My best guess would be that the agencies weren't all that impressed with the way it all was being handled. Price is one thing when you're getting what you pay for but I have heard that the return on their investment was not very good. Bad organization, poor follow through, lack of information sharing, etc.....

When I took it in '04 I felt like it was an easy way to rob 200+ people of 45.00. Twice a year for how many years? That's a lot of money. It was revenue generation for MAPA. Lets just say there were some interesting individuals that shouldn't have been taking the test. It was just so obvious. You could read the facial expressions of the LEO's there that they were less then impressed. Me and a few others got pulled off to the side to talk with a couple of different uniforms from different agencies but other wise all I saw was alot people talking about how their knowledge of the martial arts is sure to get them in this time.

That's funny as hell. Ya, it's the guy that is telling you that it's his 7th time taking this and he's pretty sure he'll ace it this time. Just as long as he can make it over that fence. He says, "That's the toughest part, don't you think?" and I just say, "Ya, it's pretty tall...." (for a toddler)

          I know what you mean.

According to Sheriff Dunning and Bellevue PD, they all (with the exception of La Vista) went with Morrow and Associates. It's pretty much the same deal as MAPA, except that I don't think you get charged money.

I take that back, the testing fee is $40. Here is what they sent me today.

How were the departments getting robbed?

I doubt that the depts were involved for free. I would be surprised to find that that departments didn't have to pay something in order to be a part of it. I could be wrong, but that's how things work.

I wonder if the test is going to be the same or if it is going to change a lot. I guess we will have to wait and see.

If I remember right this Brittney Morrow is the same person who use to be in charge of the Trautman and Associates testing. They were the company that tested for Cass County and Platsmouth. She was the fairly attractive blond that worked there, as a receptionist. A Bellevue Officer told me the City of Bellevue hired Trautman as their city administrator, so he had to leave company that was given the test. So looks like she started her own spin off of the testing. At the time the test they gave was the TABE Test, The POST Test, and one other police officer test. The physical they gave was a lot tougher than the MAPA test. It was the one you had to run the entire length of the football filed and do obstacles while you ran.

What Redders was talking about was everyone who took the test had to pay the $45.00. Every time an agency hired someone off the list they had to pay $200. for the first person hired and $100. for every person after. So MAPA was making a killing on testing, I don't know how they got away with it for so long.
Some people were just dropped on their heads as children more than the rest of us!

This might explain why these departments will contact applicants but will mysteriously and suddenly not have any openings.

That would more than likely be the reason. From what the Bellevue guy told me they did hire off the MAPA list, but if they had someone certified they went to the top of the list.
