I always wondered how the hiring process for Columbia goes if you don't already have your Missouri Peace Officers license. I live in Columbia and was planning on going through LETI next summer to get my Class A but I heard that the city will actually pay to send you if they decide to hire you. I'm guessing you'd have to be a really good applicant for them to consider paying for your training. Anyone have any insight on this?

I am familiar with Columbia's process. That is correct, If they hire before you've attended your academy they will pay your salary and equipment while your there. The process isn't too difficult, just lots of competition these days. If you want to know more PM me.

        Recent LETI Grad

I graduated from LETI August 21 of this year and can tell you that five or six guys applied and tested with Columbia during the academy. I think out of the five or six that tested two got on the eligibility list. At that time those guys had approx. forty people on the list in front of them. And that list was of licensed individuals so I would think that going in without being licensed wouldnt get you very far unless you had your Masters Degree.

Not trying to bring you down, just my honest opinion.

Is LETI a good academy and does the fact that it is only 600 hours hurt you? Just curious on where people get hired at after LETI. I was thinking about going to it in January in hopes of helping me get on in Columbia but Columbia looks pretty full.

I thought I heard on the radio like a week ago that Columbia was planning on taking applications for 2 full-time officers that would be used mainly for DUI enforcement. How they would make that a full-time position I'm not sure, I guess we have more drunks in this city than I thought. It might be something to look at.
