  • MHP Cadet Class 60

The old thread regarding an upcoming MHP class is dead so I wanted to start a new one to keep everyone on here who is interested up to date. Please don't derail this thread and turn it into a debate. If the legislature approves it there will be a class in 2011 so lets keep each other up to date on what the legislature is doing and go from there. Thanks

So I take it that you are planning to apply?

I've heard so many different takes on this, some credible, some not, so I'll just keep my mouth shut until we hear in January.

I've heard that they had a district meeting and said that they've GOT to have a class in 2011. Not sure if it's true, but this was from someone in Troop-C with some brass. I think it's just a vision at this point. They've got to have one, but who knows when. I've heard July or August.

My guess is it'll probably start in August. And from a high up, I've heard they're accepting 120-150 and only want to graduate 60. Should be good times.

August or July is most likely which means they should start the selection process in March........

Something to remember (unless it is repealed) is that there are new requirements to become a trooper which were passed into law AFTER the last trooper school making this the first class to fall under these new requirements. Essentially the new requirements are: 2 years military PLUS one year law enforcement experience OR 2 years college PLUS one year law enforcement experience OR HS diploma/GED PLUS current full time certified law enforcement certification and at least one year full-time certified law enforcement experience. I have heard from troopers that they would like to get this changed but for now it is law.

Does anyone know if reserves count as law enforcement experience? or is it only full time?
