    I found this on the MN POST Board website, found it very interesting especially after considering possibly applying there prior to coming back to MN.

    Deadline:
    On September 19 and 20, 2005, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department will be administering the written and physical ability test to persons interested in a career in the fastest growing metropolitan area in the country. The written test will be on the campus of Winona State University, Winona, MN (http://www.winona.edu/) in the Maxwell Leadership Center, Second Floor, on September 19 at 10AM. The physical ability test will be administered on September 20. 2005. The location of the physical ability test will be announced at the written test. Person interested in registering to take the test for this career opportunity should contact Officer Regina Holman by telephone or by email at [email protected]. Minimum Qualifications-Effective September 19, 2005: At least 21 years of age, Must be U.S. citizen, High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate. No conviction of any felony crime, or a crime for which you would be required to register per Nevada Law. No convictions of any crime involving Domestic Violence or Domestic Assault. EOE

      One of my college roomates was a vegas cop for a while and he seemed to like it.

        here is my .02 on LVMPD. I spent four years in vegas and had several friends join lvmpd. There is alot more to the city than meets the eye. it is not a real pleasant city. it has many very low income high crime areas, if you go off the strip in any direction more than a few blocks, you could wind up in pretty bad areas. I know that two gangs were also having turf wars on the strip itself. The dept is also VERY political and there is alot of backstabbing between officers. My recomendation...stay up here, besides who really wants to wear a vest in 120+ temps anyway. That is the main reason i came back to MN in the first place.
