  • Anyone hear back from Coon Rapids?

HR said they received over 200 applications.

I know this process is only for a eligibility roster but does anyone know how many they want to hire?

I have not heard anything, I always take no news as good news.

On that note, did anyone hear from Brooklyn Center?

They will not be hiring anyone unless someone retires or leaves. they are currently at their authorized strength. They need to compile a list per civil service rules.

Interviews are set for the week of November 2nd - Monday Through Friday in the afternoon.

Phone calls have already started to go out.

Received a letter for the written exam, which will be held 11/09 and 11/12.

CR will probably hire within... They have CSO's that applied and will get the job... I didn't even bother since I want a job now!

Anyone know if we get the study guide there or we suppose to call and get it somehow to study for the written portion?

From what I understand, the study guide will be disseminated on site prior to the exam.

Just because they have CSO's does not mean they will get hired, they have a better chance. I have seen CSO's get passed over, they are going to take the candidate they like the most.

they are authorized for 5 CSO's and currently - and for the past several years - have only used four slots.

Of the CSO's they do have only one is close to eligibility. There are several reserves that are currently eligible or close.

the biggest hurdle for all will be civil service - they are really picky

It sounds like it is the same kind of test Bloomington gave. They give you a packet to look at for 25 minutes and then you take a test based off of the information that you retained in the packet.

Anyone know what it is like to work there? What kind of schedule do they have?

There are usually 4 a min. of officers on per shift, with overlap for each shift - four shifts . ten hour days, 5 on 4 off, bid for shift once per year - catch is that you only bid for 10 months, the other two are fare game to be assigned willy nilly.

Top Pay in three years. Chief and Deputy Chief are rumored to be retiring in the next 1-2 years
they just added a detective to the DTF makes two assigned there, they have 1 k-9, used to have two but the newer dog got cancer and had to be put down. No plans to replace it anytime soon.

Have an interview with them on Wednesday... just for eligibility but at least it is something. Post Board web site is mostly bare.
