  • After 4 years I got a job

It took me four years since graduating the academy to find a full-time job. For those of you who think its not possible in Michigan, it is. I made some stupid mistakes when I was a teenager and had to put time between them and now but it finally paid off. Two years with a department part-time really helped. Alot of agencies are finally starting to hire again, I have been getting more interview calls in the last 5 months then I did when I graduated the academy in 2003.
I still have to pass my pysch and med, so its not totally in the bag.

Yeah I think that once the baby boomer start to retire that the job market will open wide up. I think that in the next two or three years michigan will see the Law Enforcement job openings go through the roof. There are some early signs even now that the market will open up. If you look at the MCOLES websie the list of current job openings really sort of went from 0 to a nice page full in a fairly short period of time. I think I was looking at it around christmas time and there were like 2 jobs listed and now there are around 10 i think.

Thanks eman. Z.T. it sounds like we will be on the same schedule, and I'm going to have to say no to Lansing PD. It all happens at once.
