  • What is your body count?

I am conducting an unscientific informal poll. The city is getting pretty off the hook in 2007...even by Baltimore City standards. I am not 100% certain on the exact number but 4 months and some change into 2007 and we are already over 100 homicides. I don't know by how much, but I know we are ahead of where we were last year at this time.

I was curious if those of you how work in some of the other county agencies if your number is up in your jurisidiction? Specifically some of the larger agencies like Baltimore County, Howard, Harford, PG, Ann Arundel, Montgomery, Cecil, Carroll, etc.

I am also curious as to what is the yearly average (Ballpark of course) in these areas.

My agency makes such a big deal about the homicide rate, and I just wanted to get a comparative prespective.

Is the city just getting way out of control or are other places seeing a spike in violence, specifically homicides?

I realize this is totally informal and you may for whatever reason not be able to get into specifics, then in general terms...ex. "we average 20 a year and we are now over 10 and will top that."

This website keeps a running tally for the Baltimore/Washington area and shows them all on a map. Has the past couple of years as well.

In God we trust, all others are run MILES and NCIC.

The Baltimore Crime Blog keeps a running tab of year to date city homicides and blotter style narratives of "significant" crimes in surrounding counties, complete with authors sardonic commentary.

That is a great website!!! Thanks for sharing.

In regards to the orginal poster, we had a record year last year and so far we are set to break that record (if it keeps going at this pace). We'll see. I dont want to give jurisdictions and/or numbers, but like you we are off to a bad start this year.

My dept is already equal to the amount of murders we had last year and summer just started.
I'm sorry, Bruce. These boys get that syrup in 'em, they get all antsy in their pantsy.
