  • Make the academly live in. I don't care if it weeds out the "bad apples." Get them out before they hit the streets. People's true colors come out when you have to live, breathe and work with them 24/7. As far as this affecting the Dept. for filling in our numbers, so be it. This department has been short for so long most are use to it. I'd rather have good, strong character officers from the get go, than dealing with some of the ones that made it through.

As far your background investigation, MORE than likely they realized that your backgound had already been done. Why make more work for yourself. Heck it only took me about 6 weeks to get hired as I just got of the Corps.

    • I just downloaded the application from the BPD website. Is that the only background paperwork I have to fill out about myself or will there be more once my background investigation begins?

Are you going to try the out-of-state testing on the 13th? There is a very strong chance that I will be there.

That's the main one that you'll need to complete and turn in. If I recall correctly they hand you one of those after you pass the civil service exam and tell you to bring it back with you when you come back for your PT test.

              • i was just looking at the BPD organizational chart and was wondering what the following units are or what they basically do?

                Module (west, east, north)
                HIDTA
RATT (listed with Vice and Customs)
                Gun Task Force
Escape and Apprehension (i'm guessing this is a fugitive recovery unit?)
                Pawn Unit

                thanks!

                            • good luck guys, we need more people out here. im not sure on your physical abilities, but the test is way easy. you can the pass the run by just shuffling your feet. dont give up. plus if you pass the steps, you should make it in by the end of the year, which means no live-in academy time.

Thanks. I have worked so hard to be ready for this. I paid off nearly $1500 of debt to polish up my credit and have made countless trips to different agencies to get documents that they need for the background. I used to play sports in HS and have spent the last few months at the gym almost every day to get back in shape (I am 5'9 160lbs, pretty fit).

I'm sending you a PM jvegas.
