Keep AACO officer in prayers

I was going through Severna Park this morning to my parents house, and it was a mess. A man robbed a bank right off Rt.2, and the officer chasing him was shot in the leg. They said he will recover, but lets keep him and his family in our prayers. The suspect was shot to death a short time later in a yard not far from the bank. RUMOR has it that he fired around 10 more shots at surrounding officers, and they took him down. It doesn't matter where you live, you must always protect yourself. Severna Park is one of the most expensive places in AACO to live, and not much happens there, but this is proof it doesn't matter where you are. Best of luck to the officer, and the officers involved in the shoot out.

Police Shoot, Kill Bank Robbery Suspect

SEVERNA PARK, Md. -- Anne Arundel County police say a bank robbery suspect is dead after a shootout with police.

The incident happened about 9 a.m. at the Bank of America at 601 Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard, investigators said.

Police said witnesses gave officers a detailed description of the bank robber. A person matching the description was found walking a short distance away from the bank.

The man fired on police while running and one officer was hit in the leg. The officer, a three-year veteran, was taken to the University of Maryland R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. His condition is not known.

Police caught up with the man again on Kimberly Court. They said he opened fire and was shot and killed.

Police are checking in the neighborhood to make sure no one else was hit, authorities said.

Suspect Killed, Officer Wounded After Bank Robbery

A man suspected of robbing a Severna Park bank was fatally shot and an Anne Arundel county police officer was wounded late this morning after a gun battle erupted when the suspect was cornered in a residential neighborhood, police said.

Police did not release the name of the suspect, identified only as an adult male. The injured officer in a statement was identified as Doyle Holquist, 32, a 1 1/2-year veteran of the department who was released from Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore after being treated for a leg wound.

Police said in a statement that the robbery was reported shortly after 9 a.m. at a Bank of America branch at 601 Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard. Silent alarms had been activated after a suspect with a garment over his face demanded money from a teller and escaped with cash, police said.

Police said officers ordered the suspect to surrender after they found him walking northbound on Route 648. The suspect, who did not display a weapon in the bank, pulled out a pistol and fired at the officers. Police shot back and chased the suspect through the yards of nearby homes, finally cornering him on Kimberly Court, the statement said.

"The suspect refused to comply with officers' commands and continued shooting at them," police said in the statement. "At that time, one of the officers was shot in the leg. Officers immediately returned shots and struck the suspect. The suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene."

Glad this one ended the way it did in that the officer was not seriously injured. I've spoken to several people who live/work in that area and they all say it was incredible. Shooting first started at a busy intersection and then went into a neighborhood. Excellent job to the officers on scene.
