What is the procedure when a Trooper is faced with the potentiality of making a dual traffic stop? Is the Standard Operating Procedure to attempt to pull over both vehicles? And if so, what is the procedure for accomplishing this in a safe and organized manner while maintaining control of the situation when no accident as occured and the only probable cause for the traffic stop is visual?
I'm having a hard time finding any regulations or SOP on traffic stops for Maryland State Police.
I have been told by a County officer that doing something like that is "rookie" and shouldn't be done. Can anyone shed any light on this concept for me? Thanks!
