After completion of the MSP Program...Do you choose what barrack you want to be at or have some sort of say...or do they place you?

They place you. Its much like the military. You go where the troopers need you.The greatest misconception in police work that gets more officers killed is alot of cops are still taught to use the "minimum force necessary". In reality a true professional will always resort to the "Maximum Allowable Force" to resolve a situation. They mean the same thing, however one is a restriction and the other is an empowerment. -
Whoever graduates first in the class gets to pick where they go. Otherwise, you are given a wish list of your top three, which is often not honored. Plan to go to a traffic barracks.Comment

It's not so much of of the senior guys heading west or to the shore. The guys from out west or the shore, when they get back there, never leave. People tend to go back to where they came from. I've seen barracks out west where the junior guy in the barrack has 10 years on.Originally posted by Up_On_Base
New troops can and do start out all around the state, but has previous posters indicate, most start out in the metro areas because those installations have the highest personnel turnover rates.Comment
