    Maine DEA

I have a question for you Maine lawmen (and lawwomen).

What is up with Maine DEA? Do they employ their own agents or do they operate solely through local task-force officers and MSP? Can't find much info. on them...

I believe all the agents are "posted" to MDEA from the participating sheriff's departments and other agencies. Roy McKinney has been the director for as long as I can remember, and there may be a few other people who are state employees.

In the course of looking this up, I ran across the original name, Bureau of Intergovernmental Drug Enforcement. When I worked in MA back in the late Eighties/early Nineties, I remember it being called BIDE (kinda like "buyed"), but until now I couldn't remember what that stood for.
