  • Louisiana DPS Police

Anyone have any information on Louisiana DPS police? (hiring, job duties, etc) the contact person they have for the job posting did not want to answer any questions.

You actually talked to them, and they wouldn’t answer basic questions?

Appreciate it. I read that over but their new job posting says they are able to work in any Parish so was wondering what other responsibilities they had.

64 parishes total, and like State Police, I imagine their commission is state wide.

Most of their job duties are building security for state buildings, the State Capitol grounds, the Crescent City Connection (although from my understanding they aren’t assigning new people to the bridge), etc. Unless they’ve changed, the pay isn’t very good and I don’t think they get State Supplemental pay.

They also get the glorious duty of commercial vehicle enforcement. I see them daily with 18 wheelers pulled over checking weight, manifests, logs, etc.

That’s usually where I see them, with 18 wheelers on the shoulder,……

              They must have strong shoulders…
