Bglassco, to answer your question there is no specific amount of times before you get selected. Some people get selected 1st time up some never get the selection. Bottom line is each Troop will review the list of candidates that applied and pick the nominees they feel best meets their selection criteria. My suggestion to you is don't give up if you really want this. But if you find yourself not getting selected for a 2nd or 3rd time do some self-reflection and possibly see if you can't get some feedback from the troop you were applying for or seek out someone who is currently a Trooper for guidance and feedback.

I made it through everything but after you get through all the qualifications stuff you have to get selected for the class they only have so many spots. I think last time they had 200 people qualify for only 50 spots in class. I did not get selected for the class and got roll d back into qualifying for the next class

So you have to do everything all over again: PT, Oral, Background, and Poly?

when you took the physical test and ran the mile and a half, is it on a track or some random trail you run on

I'm pretty sure you will have to go through the whole gambit other than the entry exam again.

  • #19
It wasn't on a track when I took it last time. They had some cones set up on a dirt/shell road near the shooting range at JESTC. Also, they do the run first and then pushups and sit-ups. I think the order threw some people off, they went too hard on the run and then had trouble with the sit-ups.

yeah doing the run prior to the push-ups and sit-ups would make that portion more tough. You use up a lot of your glycogen stores during the run which would take away from your muscular endurance for the push-ups and sit-ups. I hope everyone was practicing their PUs and SUs and striving to beat the minimum requirements by a lot. If you strive for just the minimums you may have a bad day come test time. I see it happen in the Air Force quite a bit for folks who try to just hit the minimums. (which are higher than LSPs minimums)

That's part of why I got out... they changed the requirements on me since I joined in 2004. Now I work for the Feds (0083) and though required to only hit 19 pushups, I push harder and give them 20!

Alright for those who tested today, how did it go?

I didnt test today but for some reason they cancelled one of the possible 4 test times. I wonder if thats cause they got less people than they thought. They didnt add another possible time either

Hi there. (SLCool) ....I tested on the 24th of August at 0730..(Passed) ( Runtime 13:30) ( Pushups 53) (Sit Ups 45)...I received an email stating that my test date had to be rescheduled from 1230 to 0730 for the 24th of August....I saw a few other people doing their PT test around 1230 when we were sitting in the classroom after doing the push ups and sit ups.

I can tell you this, they usually will take those who have LE Experience 1st. I work the Superdome/Saints Games/Pelicans Games with a couple of troopers and they said the LSP prefers hiring those with prior LE Experience as one put it "You guys train them and we poach them"

Well I don't know if they prefer prior LE experience or not...it makes sense that they would. I have none, but I have 8 years honorable military service, and my bachelor's degree. Not to mention years of flawless work experience. Maybe it's not enough...maybe it is. But I gotta try.

I got my date to PT test and my huge packet of paperwork to fill out yesterday. Been working on all that. I'm conditioned at this point, that if I took the test tomorrow i'd pass it. I pt test on the 19th of Sept. I called the IA department, and they told me that they are selecting candidates for the 99 class. All I can do is go through the process and let things happen as they will.

I'm a bit nervous about the polygraph, just by nature of it being a polygraph. I've never been in trouble with the law or the military, but I did a couple dumb things that I regret as a young man. All I know is I aint lying about it. I even filled out my paperwork admitting that I snuck a burger when I worked at burger king in high school...was supposed to throw it away after a certain amount of time...but i ate it on break instead. I don't want any indication that I'm trying to hide anything. Hardest thing was remembering the two speeding tickets I got...they're not on my record and I honestly don't even remember the year I got them in.

How did you get a 19th of Sept date?

    • #25
I’m not sure...they emailed me the date and that’s all I know. Maybe they needed more applicants.

When they canceled some of the time slots, they provided the Sep. 19th date as a replacement. Some people had their original time canceled.

So when is 99 supposed to start? How can they have you do the physical test and have the academy start like 4-6 weeks after that. Unless the class got pushed back again

First time posting, went through the process for the first time for class of 98 but was not chosen. I am scheduled to take the physical test 12 OCT. Talked to a friend that is in the academy now and his rumor was that they are supposed to have another academy towards the end of class of 98.

No I do not. They only send you a letter stating that you were not chosen after the academy starts. I do not have prior LE experience, just 9 years military and a bachelors degree, so that might have been why.

I got accepted back in 2015, but decided to choose another career path. I had no prior LE experience, only 4 years active duty and no education. It's odd the way they select their candidates.

So since your pt test is scheduled in Oct. do you think you will be able to attend the 99 academy?

Im guessing since they do not have a start date for the academy yet i should be able to get into the academy since they offered the physical test date for the academy. Who knows, the whole process usually takes a while depending on when you begin the process. I was originally supposed to test last week i believe and i emailed internal affairs and told them i could not take off work and they told me to resubmit for September. When i went online to resubmit for my test only October was available.
