Lemme guess, Stats show that 80% of all foot pursuits end with either the offender or officer colliding with a pedestrian and the department doesn't want that kind of liability. Maybe they limit just how fast you're allowed to run during that foot pursuit.

Your not to far off. I heard the restrictions were for chasing someone who is overweight in fear that he will have a heart attack. Or chasing someone into traffic and the suspect getting hit by a car. I have said, that kansas law enforcement is becomming very liberal. Criminals have caused the police to fear lawsuits and inturn, police departments begin changing policies. It will be a shame when law enforcment is just a term. When you can't enforce laws anymore and can only investigate some crimes.

Yes, it's true. If you desire more information, PM me, and if you're an LEO I'll share what I know. I don't want to post their policies in open forum.

    foot pursuit restrictions

Has anyone heard of departments in Johnson County restricting their foot pursuits. I heard this the other day and couldn't believe it. If true, what else are they going to restrict, traffic stops?
