    Minimum Qualifications The 10 Step Selection Process

    The 39th Basic DPS Academy is set to begin in the late fall of 2014. The Academy will train officers for the position of Trooper I and Trooper II.

    Do you ever see the DPS opening up a lateral transfers and having a 7-8 week transition program for the candidates? I see the DOT have fell through or withdrawn from the DPS and their back to hiring Trooper II's.

      No I don't see a lateral happening anytime soon.

      Yes, the merger with the DOT MVE appears to be no longer in the cards (It wasn't a popular thing with EITHER line staff)

        My son is applying for the Trooper 1 position. He may have an issue with the sit and reach evolution of the physical agility but he is working on stretching as much as possible. He will have no issues with the other sections at all. Hopefully he can get a decent stretch and at least gain the 1point needed and make up the remaining 7 on the other evolutions..

        Does anyone know how many they are looking to hire?

          If they are going to run a full class, it isn't cost effective unless they have at least 15 to run through it. I have no idea of the number but I would look for it to be greater than 15-20. In the past classes have started 20-25, but it's been a while since I was in the "know".

              If you are meaning a lateral academy.........................nope. My sources in the DPS don't think that is going to happen any time soon.
