I was wondering does anyone have experience with what it like to work for the juvenile section of the IDOC? Also, how fast can you move up the rank and gain a higher pay rate? Their starting paying for corrections officers is only 32k and that is considerable low. Especially when you compare it to what county level detention centers and local PD make in the same county as their prisons

Chris, while I am unaware of the juvenile sector does I can tell you that several years ago I applied and interviewed for adult Parole. At that time pay was something below 30k a year I believe and it looks to be the same now. I am a parole officer in Ohio and basic starting range in 41k. In the interview for Indiana they told me that we were subject to percentage increases based on work. it is extremely low when taking into consideration the population that you work with.
