I read up on their dept. on their website after applying and it said they only have 32 deputies. I am wondering if they want to make the department bigger since that seems small for such a large county.

There are a lot of municipalities in Hamilton County that are growing like crazy. If anything, the county’s JD is getting smaller, not bigger.

What parts of Hamilton County do they patrol then? All it says on their website is that they divide the county into 5 separate geographical beats.

They patrol the unincorporated areas of Hamilton County as well as Atlanta, IN. While Carmel has completely annexed the entire areas of Clay Township - in all of the other municipalities there are pockets of unincorporated territories that the sheriff's office responds too.

The remainder of Hamilton Counties top three townships are almost entirely unincorporated other than a few small towns.

They are currently at 30 deputies but also have 6 Sergeants of which 5 actively patrol and 4 LT's that patrol the county. There is also 1 dedicated humane law enforcement / animal control deputy that patrols the same areas.

The reserve division doubles the road patrols manpower as well...
