Jason is an IMPD Officer who was shot while pursuing a murder suspect. He was shot in the head and chest and survived by the grace of God, and he has returned to limited duty at the Academy. The trial for the suspect starts today, and Jason will be testifying.

Gotcha. I knew that name sounded familiar. Prayers are with him! I thought I caught a glimpse of him in a crossfit video that IMPD has.

Yeah, he goes in there to work out. Not the WOD we are doing but he gets all sweaty doing workouts that are made for his specific needs. He is always upbeat. Very inspiring to workout next to him.

Well said! My life was once saved by the grace of Glock....

Back to the original post, I should add that I am confident that Jason will come out on top in the trial and that Reese will get the punishment he deserves.

We can all hope so. The Star story yesterday was quoting Reese's lawyer as saying something to the effect of "we all know Brian shot at him, but his intent was not to kill him." Sounds like the defense is playing the odds on him being convicted of something like aggravated battery w/a deadly weapon...and not the attempted murder charge.

Ohh....personal fortitude, medical school, years of honing their skill.

I'm not an atheist, but I put more stock in the strength of man in those situations than in some unseen being.

I came in here because Fish is a personal friend of mine. It didn't bother me that 502 said "pray for Fish today." Fish needs the support going through this tough time, no matter who the support is from. I just choose to support him in a different way. I never prayed for him, but I did go in to work on my RDO the night he was shot so that his shift partners could be with him at the hospital. The disagreement about believers vs. non-believers wasn't an issue until IndyCop4405 made it an issue. Kind of like playing the race card when it doesn't need to be played.

I have to admit that I didn't expect the thread to head down this path, but here goes. First, I respect anyone's right to a different or non-belief, and I will fight for your right to have it, but please remember that this is a thread about Jason Fishburn, who's entire life and career is founded in faith in God. We can give all the credit deserved to science and technology, but if you recall the days following the shooting, Jason's Trauma Surgeon said that "They've done all they can do, now it's in God's hands". Here's a suggestion I shoud have included I guess, If you don't prefer to pray, give Jason a call or e-mail, letting him know you support him. Nuff said.

Well, a little bit of an update. I was told yesterday they're a little behind with the witnesses and such due to motions and objections and crap. Apparently, after Fish and his wife got done testifying, the defense attorney asked the judge to MAKE THEM LEAVE THE COURTROOM because he didn't want the jury to be influenced by his presence. The judge RIGHTFULLY refused that motion!! Score 1 for the good guys there.
