  • Lt. Col. David Grossman coming to Evansville

Lt. Col. David Grossman is to be in Evansville on October 20, 2009 at the Victory Theatre. If you have never seen him speak, or have not read any of his books, you will want to come to Evansville. I saw him earlier this year at Tell City, (also met Brother Towncop).
Not much information in regards to registeration. You can go to
www.epdfoundation.org , maybe they will update soon. Hope to see and meet some of my fellow hoosier cops there.

Ptcop you have been to his seminars before. What is the difference between first session and second session? Is the second session more of just a repeat of the first without as much L.E. sensitive tactics? Or is it a good idea to go ahead and attend both sessions?

BigJ, I do not know of the difference, or what the difference is. I understand the cops can be there all day, others are invited for the afternoon session. I don't recall what the difference was, if there was one at the Tell City class.
I heard yesterday, that there is a 25 dollar fee for this one. I guess they may have been last time, but my town picked up the fee for us...

It was good, just wish more VCSO would have gone. All about keeping schools safe in a terroist enviroment.

I hope this works out for you. If I recall, you worked for IU. IU is one large university that really doesn't care all that much for what their police provide them. When other university PDs in surrounding states are hitting $50K/year, IU wants to top Bloomington officers out at $44K, Indy officers out at $42K, and I heard Gary officers make the most around $45K. No take home car, don't care too much for officer's rights, off-duty will go away the first time an officer does something and gets the university sued, etc..

I couldn't understand why any good IU Bloomington police officer stayed working for the university. I was always under the assumption they were just as busy as Bloomington PD and similar sized cities and therefore did basically the same amount of work. Looks like Bloomington PD tops out at $45K, plus $1,200 for a degree plus $1,600 for uniforms, plus $500 for various specialties. If they get a take home car, add $5,000 to that. Not too bad of a benefit package.

There are a ton of police officers all over this state that are former IU police officers and/or cadet officers. Tons!

Oh, how could I forget this..typical of IU!!

I'm gonna hijack this thread but wow this video blew my mind. I just kept saying to myself "this couldn't actually happen" but IT DID! wow.

Simple case of people seeing something that isn't there. They had a presupposition that the book was obviously racist becasue it said klan on the cover.
