Yup I get the same feeling every time I see someone get lit up or hear sirens in the distance.

Great idea on the exchanging of phone numbers. I'll be moving to Indy if/when I get the job so it'll be nice to have some people to chat with and get to know a week or so before the academy starts. I think we should all get along since we have a couple common interests between each other!

I talked to my BI on Monday and she said we should still hear something towards the end of next week or the very first of the following week. Like MetroOff519 stated, the merit board meets next week and we should hear something soon there-after. Good luck to everyone left.

It's been a while since a week or two seemed like such a long time. Thanks for the info 10-96 and metro; I do keep track of here as much as I can but any developments are good to analyze. I've talked to a few officers I've seen around, one this last weekend said he had friends who were in this process but they'd gotten letters recently telling them they weren't in the process any more. And no, I don't know how recent "recently" was.

ya trying to focus on work and do a good job is getting harder and harder each day. Working for the Indiana welfare dept is a mess. The whole privatization thing has screwed up a LOT of things. All we do is run head first in to brick walls...get up and do it again all day. No "set" policies on how to do our jobs up to par with state and federal guidelines, but I've gotten 3 memo's on amendments to the dress code for "summer weather"

I feel like I'm in the movie Office Space every day I go in to work. Those damn TPS reports are wearing me down!

Hopefully we'll be hearing from the department soon. It would be nice if I gotta shell out $1k to get moved to Indy or I can splurge it on a flat screen TV if I don't get hired. Rather have a crappy unfurnished apartment in Indy and bebloody/bruised after a rough day at the academy than this cozy place here with a crap job.

and BTW We're up to 4 rounds. Who's buying the shots?

I work for the Department of Corrections right now. I try to be consistent and do a good job but unlike the military where this would be lauded and congratulated on it seems to me to be a little of the opposite. The turnover rate for Correctional Officers is astronomical, so it's understandable. I'm just worried about things. I'm a good C/O but I've already let them know I plan on moving on, and I have to anyway - the pay for a C/O is not so great. I was making 50K a year last year in the Army and now I make about 25K for the state. It'll be nice to have a real paycheck again.

i work as an armed messenger for brinks & the majority of the time i,m on the eastside of the city & those of us who live there know what a WONDERFUL place that is. It worries me everyday that some hood is going to do something stupid to us & i,m going to get hurt. Its not easy going down e.10th street with a couple hundred thousand dollars. feels like we are running down the hall to a door that just keeps creeping away, but one day we will get it. The sooner the better

You all sound like great guys and it's no wonder why you have all made fit this far. I have faith that we will all be in the impd, even if it's not this time around. Keep the faith guys we will be in soon enough.

Well I have no doubts anyone who made it this far is a great american. I don't envy anyone who will receive a declination letter at this point, it'd be a hard pill to swallow. But you're definitely right Bancroft - it may not be this process or this department, but I'm sure we'll all be brothers in blue eventually. I think road marching with my D/I in the Army taught me one very valuable lesson - "right foot forward, left foot forward" is all you're going to have sometimes. If you **** that up, well you're not going to get anywhere at all. Just gotta keep going no matter what.

I'm sitting here filling out another police application that is due June 1st for the Elkhart Police Department. Hopefully I won't have to go through their process because I'll be too busy in the academy
