We all scheduled a time to get our ID pictures taken if we are excepted. I would think they would keep those the same. that would mean we should get a letter the first week of June. They were taking pictures starting the 8th for 2 full weeks, if I remember right. I think we will still get our letters within the first week, but you never know. Good luck to everyone still remaining in the process. We are all so very close but yet so far away!!

      • I'm sorry to hear that mono. I don't mean to "rub it in" but could you inform as to the circumstances? Did you go to the interim physical fitness test? If so, did you get the letter this week/end? Sorry again man, its heartbreaking to make it this far and get a no thanks.

        • I was told the Merit Board is meeting the 1st week of June, but not sure of the specific date. No time frame on letters or anything either, but I'd imagine as soon as the Merit Board makes its approval, they'll be sent out.

                • Hey I saw on the IMPD website that the Academy starts on July 6th now. Maybe they just decided to move things back because of their issues with the merit board and letters and timing, as well as giving everyone more time to get ready for the Academy. I know they were pretty disappointed with most of the candidates for the Interim PT test. I'm bummed it keeps on moving back but like you guys I'll be happy to be back into a career and away from my ****ing job.

                  • paratrooper6, why were they disappointed at the int. pat?

                    • Candidates not giving it the effort the cadre thought appropriate. You can see a little bit of that in earlier posts, mono. A lot of people were doing minimums, half-assing it and thinking they've already gotten the job.

                      • hey its just another 14 days we can spend busting our butts to get in better shape. Wish there was a crossfit gym in my area.

                        • I put in more effort then the minimum, but I was surprised at my 1.5 time. I made just under the exit.. not too great. However I had been running it in 14 or so when practicing. I guess the whole set of activities just took it out of me. I also didn't get a very good breakfast in, I was too nervous to eat. I did well over the exit for situps, vertical, and 300. I think I did at or just above for pushups so I am working on that. I did not settle for the minimums because after all we are still competing for a job. I noticed that some guys stopped to walk on the 1.5 mile run. I didn't have a great time by any means but I definitely did not stop to walk on that one. That is just crazy to me. I heard one guy stopped to walk on the 300. Maybe that is a rumor? Or maybe I am thinking of my friend's PAT back before he got on. Either way I cannot fathom the lack of willpower you could have to stop and walk on that event. Good luck guys, we are close. I appreciate the extra time to get into shape for the academy so I am not complaining. I just hope we get the "go" letter around the same time frame because time is going pretty slow!

If you're interested, I found this website when I was looking for a CrossFit gym in this area. It's in Mishawaka, and I'm not sure if it's the same type of training that they have at the CrossFit gyms down in Indy.

I was the same way. Nerves were shot and breakfast wasn't settling right. I did well on all the other activities, but was still trying to gag out the last of my breakfast right before the 1.5. So i was gassed right at the beginning. Which lead to a poor but passing run time. Stupid hotel breafkast killed me!

Thanks for that southbendcrossfit.com link. i'm going to check that out. Are you from Mishawaka/South Bend Area?

                              • A policeman lives nearby in the neighborhood so I get to see his car pretty often. Every time I see it I can't help but stare lol. I realize that every time I look at that car I am looking at my dreams but best of all my future! I am pretty darn excited. If we do go guys, we should PM our names to each other, it would be pretty good to know some people right off the bat in the academy. We have all grown through our experiences "together" throughout the long process on this forum. I for one am very very grateful for this forum, I have learned SO MUCH from it, (not just this thread in particular).
