Excise hiring process 2008

They will try and keep you in the county that you live in. But, in the (05) process I went thru a couple of guys(2) failed their bq's and psych portions. Thus, they had to go to the alternate list and hire 2 guys from the southern Indiana. Since there were no other candidates left living in the northen area. They both took the positions.

Just got back from the test. No news as far as the number that they are going to hire. I did find out that about 380 people were invited to todays PAT test, and only 235 showed up.

I was there... really, did only 235 show up?

Did anyone fail? I HEARD a few failed the 1.5m run... but I dont see how that is possible LOL.

I was there as well and while waiting to check in we had several people walk back by us that didnt pass. Some were told you can re-apply during the next faze. One guy even came back and said he had reconsidered and handed in his card. I am assuming he didnt pass one of the events. During the exercises the groups( of 4 people) in front and behind all seemed to loose atleast one person somewhere during the test. ussually sit-ups or Pushups from what I could tell. while waiting in the gym I saw atleast 4 guys including one in my own group get DQ'd for too many violations in the pushups. didnt see too many outside of my own group in the 1 1/2 mile run but seemed like if you made it that far you could make it thru the last one. A girl in the group in front of us had a rough time and was throwing up on the way around the loop and I dont think she made it in time according to the starters comments.
hopefully the test narrowed down the competition enough.

They required you to pass all the ILEA entrance standards, so yes 5 out of 5.

When I was there, I saw several fall with the push ups. This seemed to be the killer for the groups I saw.

yeah it was nuts how many the push ups killed, and even crazier, i saw dudes high fivin' each other for doing 21!!!!!!! lol

Anyone know when or how we are going to be contacted for the next phase? Do we even know what the next phase is??

This failing the PT portion makes me happy. I am just now getting back into shape. When I first did the push-ups, I could basically do what was required. After doing push-ups every other day, within weeks I was 10+ the number needed. Within a few more weeks, I was closing in on 50. There must be some real lazy fools out there. Hopefully they will be in my process when I apply for some other departments. If you can't bust out push-ups and sit-ups after being told about them months in advance, you have problems.

I believe they will notify us by Mail like they have done for the last 2 forms they have sent us. this is just my best guess but I would assume they wont even have those mailed out until after the first of the year. The next stage in the game is a Panel/board interview. This should knock out several more people that may not have the qualifications to go on. I believe if you passed the physical portion then you will get an interview.

Please Ignore the above Statement. They are mailing out Excise officer applications to the people that passed. These are supposed to be returned by 12/22/08. This will probably knockout a few more because of the Deadline. Please remember Do Not Call or Make Inquiry regarding your Status, I think that is on every thing they have sent to us so I would not chance it.
