I took the written exam on saturday at 2pm and after the exam we were informed that ~ 600 applicants did not show up to the written exam. So I thought I would tell everyone that the odds just improved for us. We were not told a number that they were going to hire.

That is good news-Hopefully they hire at least 1 from each district.

Anyone here anything yet? I tested on 10/4. I thought we were told letters would be sent out possibly the following week. Just hoping letters haven't been sent, not lost in the mail....

I'm one of the no-shows. A family emergency precluded me. Good luck to the rest.

I believe we were told before the test that the first people to get letters would be the ones that did not Pass. and they were planning on sending those out after each test was scored. He made the comment if you get the letter DO NOT!!!! call to see what your test score was. if you did not pass you did not pass. at this point I would assume good news is no news. Good luck and hopefully the Physical test invite letters will come out first week of November. I am hoping I heard that right because I Havent recieved a letter either.

I was in the 2pm test too...Like everyone said, it was easy. I haven't heard anything about the next phase yet either, but they did say that the PT would be in November.

From my 2 experiences it can be a long process. Just be patient and wait for the letter. (Don't call) I started the 05/06' process in June of 05' and didn't have my final interview w/ the superintendant until late November.

I just got my letter today; I am scheduled for the fitness test on 11/22 at 10:00AM at ILEA in Plainfield. The letter states they will be testing to the ILEA ENTRY standards and goes on to say the interview phase will be held sometime after the first of the year.

I understand that as an Excise officer you must be willing to be assigned anywhere in the state, however, I was wondering if anyone knew at what point in the process one could expect to find out their assigned district?? Are you offered a position in a specific district as part of your conditional offer, or do you not find that information out until after you accept an offer and are in the academy? Also, does anyone know if there are any requirements regarding where you live vs. your assigned district? For example; if your assigned district is Lafayette are you allowed to live in any of the counties that make up that district or would an officer typically live close to Lafayette? Thanks in advance for any info!!

Last I heard with state agencies, there was a push to try and keep folks close to home. Taking someone brand new and pushing them hours away from home only means they will be driving that take-home car (if they have no restrictions) back home to visit. The farther away "home" is, the more miles you are likely to see logged on those vehicles. Not only that, with LE being more and more like other jobs, where more folks are more than willing to move to another state for a job with possible better benefits, I think it would be wise to try to keep folks as happy as possible. If your a state trooper and your "home" is Indy, yet they throw you hours away near a border state, after possibly meeting a few out-of-state officers, one might be inclined to just that line if the benefits are good enough.

If I remember correctly from the last process last year and talking to my B.I. last year I believe when they give you the final offer is when they tell you what district you will be working. Also, I believe when you are assigned to a county you must reside either in that county or a neighboring county.. Again, I've been through a couple of processes last year and I'm pretty sure this was the information given to me during this process. Also, keep in mind that this was last process and things always change. They may have changed the rules! So take it fwiw.
