Adult probation, similar to states attorney and public defender investigators, don't generally advertise vacancies. Here's the contact information for you to find out.

    For Employment Information
    Office of Human Resources
    Adult Probation Department
    Cook County Administration Building
69 West Washington Street, Suite 2000
    Chicago, Illinois 60602
    (312) 603-0245

Probation just hired the next class. Not so sure if they're still accepting apps. Also look into the Social Service Dept. (under the same director) You can find info online. 2650 S. California Rm 901 Chicago, IL 60608. BUT FIRST you need to be qualified by Springfield and the Chief Judges office. Good luck and PM me with any more questions.

Call HR in Springfield @ 217-524-1275 and ask them to send you a AOIC (administrative office of IL courts) application. Tell them the dept. you're interested in too. They will direct you to the next step. Good luck.

What are the requirements to be hired as a probation officer.
My worst day as a police officer is a million times better than the best day on any other job!

Probation and parole units tend to favor degrees (majors or minors) in Social work, psychology, sociology and criminal justice.
