Good luck to you kids. This job isn’t for the faint of heart and it’s brutal right now. we are in the ebb of the tide in terms of police community relations. Just roll with the punches and make the necessary sacrifices. Some days are great, other days are miserable, but I wouldn’t change being a cop for anything else. I’d choose being a cop over deploying on my submarine with our stacked crew in 2007.

I was given a BI packet and an assigned BI agent at the IPT/ processing on July 31st so I was curious to see which call I would be waiting for first

Oh they must've changed it. For me I had to do the PHQ, drug screening, poly, at home interview, and all that j*** before I was even assigned a background investigator. I was only assigned one recently lol.. I'd imagine you'd get the BI agent call last and they won't tell you if you failed.

I received the kentech email yesterday morning. My lottery number was mid 200s, not sure if that has anything to do with the order they're doing the backgrounds.

My lottery number is 12xx and I haven’t received anything yet although my last name is near last alphabetical wise so not sure how they are making the decisions

I still haven't received an email regarding my application status. I am curious if I ever will. My lottery number is extremely low which initially gave me confidence in my application. I suppose it did say it could take 4-9 months to be hired. Should I contact Kentech? Or should I just wait and see what happens? I don't want to wait too long and get passed along. I also do not want to burden them especially if they were going to get to me soon. Does anyone have any idea how long this process could take? Is the 4-9 months still the goal for them? I am hoping for the best, I just wish it wasn't such a waiting game.

For me personally i've been waiting 2 years for a CPD investigator to contact me and they finally did. Those lotto numbers don't mean anything. My best advice is just keep living your life without any expectations to get a job with CPD. I don't know how these BI things are worked out.. But you should probably expect anywhere from 4 months-4 years to get hired.. So.. If you were like me expecting to get hired by the time I left the military... Don't put any careers or career progressions on hold for CPD. There's a good chance it will take a long time or not get hired at all.

100% agree with bluesent. It’s been over 2 years for me still haven’t heard back. Re took the written almost 4 weeks ago. Not putting anything on hold while I wait hear back.

I just called the number for the investigations department that’s on my kentech packet I received from the in processing day I went in July and he said as we were speaking on the phone they are putting together the next batch of applicants to contact from those who did their in processing July 31st and august 1st. He mentioned they are also calling people in regards to poly dates. As well as they are breaking up the files and some of us will be contacted by kentech and some of us directly from CPD so keep a lookout for those emails and phone calls

Hey everyone for those that was waiting on the BI to contact yeah it can be a long process I know I personally waited almost 1 1/2 but our case was different because of the city’s hiring freeze and covid first broke out so it slowed our process down but if you are working right now continue to work don’t quit your currently job because like everyone says it may be a while but also when you do receive your email or phone just be ready to take those next steps into the hiring progress but still don’t quit your job until you received your NTI for the academy because there is possibility that you may fail a portion of the hiring progress. Also word is that will be having a class every month starting next month so eventually if will be called depending on if your background passed. Also I know some people say to do the application multiple times to increase your chances of getting hired that’s not true, if something pops up in your background they won’t hire you or if you don’t pass the poly or any other parts of the hiring process they won’t hire you so keep that in mind. Just be open and honest especially on the poly and psych. You will be surprise but those are the ones they do hire and the people that tries to hide something well more than likely they are not here. Very good points especially with the application part and very true if you're upfront about stuff. No one is perfect. I had credit issues because I was dealing with working, helping my family financially and my dad was terminally ill so life happens and they will work with you. I'm grateful they did and for the opportunity. Yes hiring is about to ramp up again. Just saw an article about it the other day too.
