  • No kidding? I remember someone telling me they were Palos guys. That picture has been in the Cops magazine for a few months now. I do notice the patches now. Their name tags don't match Palos either. I didn't know IPR guys work out this way. I've never seen them.

    • They probably don't work out that way but photo bombed the event. "Dude, a mobile command post..... We should totally get a photo."

Not as bad as the nearly 8 year old Rosemont auxiliary thread that was dug up from the grave by a reputable member here...

How has the IPR organization been doing? Heard they were getting their reserve Officers state certified and they are now the reserve unit for Bridgeview Pd. Any information on this?

According to their official web site at http://ilpolicereserves.org/ , they are still in existence and actively recruiting. This is in spite of the Illinois Attorney General's opinion No. 10-003 that can be found at http://www.isba.org/committees/gover...issuesopinions and mandates that can be found at http://www.ptb.state.il.us/mandates.htm. These rulings have caused other auxiliary police units to disband.

Also, according to the Illinois Secretary of State web site at http://www.ilsos.gov/corporatellc/Co...eLlcController , it indicates that the IPR's corporation status is active, but "not in good standing", whatever that means.

According to the official Bridgeview Police web site at http://www.bridgeview-il.gov/residen...ce_department/ , it states in part "In addition to full-time and part-time officers, the Bridgeview Police Department also has a staff of auxiliary officers to help with traffic control and other duties." Are these auxiliary officers members of the IPR? I don't know. Contact Bridgeview PD at 708-458-2131 to verify.

Regarding the claim that they are getting their officers state certified, contact the IPR directly at the web site link I posted above to verify.

That is all the information that I could obtain using the internet.

                  • I attended their orientation in august just out of curiosity. Reserve officers won't be getting state certified but would attend their 9 month in house academy in certified police training courses. Sort of like the part time police academy on saturdays. They will be working as auxiliary officers for the Bridgeview police department primarily in major events that they have. It was also mentioned that it's a possibility of being hired by the Bridgeview PD and sent to an actual police academy after working enough time with the department. I have read and heard plenty of negative stories about the organization which may have been true but it seems like they are actually getting their stuff together.

That was pretty impressive you checked into this. I was being too lazy to research the organization's current status. I know they have a few current full-time police officers who work for Chicago and surrounding suburbs and they train the reserve Officers. But thanks for the info.

                      • Not in good standing according to the SOS does not mean the organization's is bad or has problems. It just means the organization's did not file the current year annual report, Property, or just filed late.

Thanks for clearing that issue up since, as I stated in my original posting, I did not know.

Because someone requested an update, that is why. I see nothing wrong with that.

No hasn't and won't happen. ILETSB won't certify them as they are not Police Officers and are not affiliated with any real PD.

It is, and still is an organization for "wannabe's." And any actual P/O that is involved there, is, I guarantee, several "ranks" above in the IPR than what they are in their real PD.
