  • Driving documents, insurance and etc for background investigator

    I know that I will eventually have to provide Auto insurance, vehicle registration and etc to my background investigator (Chicago Police), but will it be a problem if the car I drive/insurance is not under my name? I currently drive a vehicle that is under my sister's name and insurance. This is because I did not have the credit to get approved for a loan when I purchased my car, so my sister purchased it for me.

    Will this be a big problem?

    Thanks

    If I am not mistaken, under Illinois law for mandatory insurance, IF your sister lives in the household then your name will have to be on the policy, IF she does not live with you then no, but it has to be full coverage if the vehicle is being financed/leased.

      @AspiringChicagoCop

      You should be good then.

      I was just going by what an insurance agent once told me. I guess for background as long as you're insured is all that matters.
