Hiring Process, How it all goes?

I have only tested for one department. Kind of a lets see how it goes type thing. This was last summer. I had completely forgotten about it, then I get a call recently from a Detective who wants to start my BI. He states that I am very high on the list, top 5. So I went in and saw him, picked up my BI packet, filled it out and returned it. That was a week ago.

Any idea on how long it takes and the steps that follow. He said they have a couple of class dates for the next six months. Is that a couple of slots for each class or numerous classes each month? Any idea on what the next six class dates are? Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

Even though I started the process "just to see", now that I am at this point I am getting really excited and anxious!

It can take anywhere from a month to a year or two. It depends on how much they want you and when the academy starts. Your nexts steps should be the BI investigation, polygraph, and a psych and medical eval. It also depends on what academy they send their people to. PTI usually runs an academy every six weeks you can check their site for dates. SLEA starts in a week. Their next academy after that is in late June and then October. Their site also has start dates. Thank you for the info. I do know that they send their new hires to PTI. I also know that they are growing rapidly. When we tested they had approx. 4 -7 slots they were looking to fill right away.

I guess we will see what happens and I will keep you all updated. This is a great site, glad I found it.

well if your going to PTI there is a class starting april 1st, and then the next class is MAY13th, i will be in that class.... but it also depends on what department you are going to, because some departments take forever to run a BI and others could be very quick... it also depends on the size of the department...some departments have psych and polygraphs and some departments dont so that also will play a factor... i know some of the smaller departments dont psych or polygraph, so it just depends. i know my department does not psych or polygraph so i donno which department you are in the works with but...
