  • Feb 06 testers Info

I have received a lot of PM in reguards to my home interview and what to expect. So I thought I would post this. Months ago, after our 8 month wait, we heard they were trying to speed up the process....this is true...they got the drug and written pysch doen in 2 weeks and the POWER tests in 3. They are doing everything on THEIR end to speed it up..but the oral psych and medical are still taking 6-8 weeks to get back to them...my BI said he had a guy he was doing the background for and he got notice 2 weeks after the fact that he was a No SHOW for his medical...wasted his time.
You can have the best background and references in the world, A+ student, clean as a whistle, alter boy, sing in your church choir, cure cancer, whatever. If your Psych or Med come back with a red "NOT FIT FOR DUTY" stamp, then game over...some BI's are moving at faster paces....getting the background done so when your Medical comes back good to go, your done, outside the Final POWER test....On the final Power test, they are A LOT stricter...legs must be FLAT for the sit and reach....sit ups must be in perfect for and you get 1 min...no more...so stay in shape...
They want to have as many academies as possible this year and next....he made me no guarentees.....So if your Medical is in March, your BI wont hear the results until May or June...if this burst's anyones bubble, I'm sorry, but I know the waiting sucks and I would want to know! They are also going by the ranking #....sometimes someone with a higher one gets thru a crack, but for the main part, they are going right in order. But remember, well over half of the orginal 3300 that took the test have been DQ already for POWER, DRUG, or dropped out on their own.....so if you are 3000, you are really like 1500 now....hope this helpes anyone waiting....June/Aug/and Nov testers, end of 2007, into 2008

I had my Psych Test in febuary and my Medical isnt till may 1st. im not sure What my number is and I dont know how to find out. I just wish we had a definate date when this will all be over. I really want to be a police officer but I'm not putting all of my eggs in 1 basket. I just turned 26 a few weeks ago and Im not getting younger.

Between medicals, power test, drugtests, Psych test, College credits alone there are far less people still in the hireing process. I still have my hopes up that the academy can start late summer early fall for our Class but you never know.

Thanks for the info and good luck to all the remaining applicants.

based on what the dr. (psych) told me at the interview is that they give us a pass or fail. they send that results to somewhere in CA and then it's forwarded to the CPD. according to him, it takes an avg. of 2 weeks for the dept. to get the results. but as far as whether you passed or failed, he jots that down right after the interview. anyone get similar info from their psych?

My psych Dr. told me that he had a small part in terms of making a decision of a pass or failing a candidate. But he also stated that the results would be sent out to CA. and fowarded back to CPD and that process would take an average of two weeks. And i do believe that the minute you walk out of his office he'll jot down whether you pass or failed. I guess this whole CPD candidate process usually takes two yrs. from begining to end. The waiting game is part of the process in its self. Lets all just hang in there.

I had my psych interview back on 1-13 and I was told the results would be sent out to california, and the results would be sent to CPD two weeks later. I had my medical on 1-30. I had to go back in Feb. for another blood sample because the sample they had was tainted. I received my letter from my BI near the end of Jan. I gathered all of the required documents and called a few days later to set up a interview date. I left like three messages and never received a call back. I can understand that the BI has probably 80 other applicants she is doing backgrounds on but hey a call would be nice to say she got my message and would call back when she has an appointment available. Ill just sit back and wait.

I had my psych on 2/16, my med is 4/11 and no word from BI, my # is 24xx. Anyone else want to post there #, maybe we can keep tabs on progress.Does anyone know if there are any 2005 testers waiting? Was there a test in '05? So many questions, not enough answers. I think patience is the biggest virtue here. Good thing I have an appointment with Hanover Park BI tomorrow.

                  Point of reference:
My number is 22xx, psych about 2 weeks ago, med end of April. I've received no contact from a BI (or anyone else) and none of my personal references have mentioned receiving any information or question packets.

I'm not in the process for or, indeed, interested in any other departments. I have a good placeholder job that understands my situation and is generously working with me. I hope for the best, not just for myself but for each of you here.

My number is in the 1700's. I had my med and psych in Jan, but have not received any contact from BI, though I was told one had been assigned to me. They said with my number it could take a while. Right now, no news is good news. My med was tricky in that I discovered some hearing loss...I'm 34. But the specialist said I wasn't really a candidate for hearing aids since I was not experiencing any issues with my hearing (other than when taking the test...and I was able to pass their speech repeating tests flawlessly.) I am waiting to hear (pun intended) if the CPD is going to accept my hearing tests. If they don't, I'll have the option of retaking the test with hearing aids...

Regarding my psych test...I did not get the same outrageously positive feedback others got. It seemed pretty standard. Although, some of my answers sounded different when they repeated them back to me. (i.e. So sometimes you feel like punching people?...Yes, sometimes I do feel like it...but I never do. My last physical altercation was in fifth grade.) So, just playing the waiting game. One more thing, thank you to everyone that has been posting about their experiences, it has made the waiting a little easier.

This helps me feel better, I had trouble passing the hearing test when I got out of the USMC...4 years of gun blasts took it's toll...but after the hearing and vision she just told me "Ok, lets move on"...After the breath test when i didn't hit the mark I asked whats up...she said the Dr will call me if I need to re-test...been 4 weeks, no call....my fingers are crossed....I had one of those "Dr. Happy" for my oral so I'm banking that went OK....
